The Social Media Research Love Hate Debate #MRX

Over the last few weeks, I’ve written a series of posts about the top ten hates and loves of social media research. Below are links to all 20 posts. But, I had a little fun along the way, a little fun that revealed a bit of the human mind to me and showed that people just love to hate.

First of all, the posts went live fairly evenly, a hate, a love, a hate, a love. Let’s also consider that people get bored along the way, paying less and less attention to the later items. And, I’ll admit that the titles of some posts were better or worse than others. As researchers, I’m sure we can come up with all kinds of confounds. But, all things considered, you can see in chart that “hate” posts received almost twice as many reads as the “love” posts. It’s perfectly clear that people love to hate!

  1. Love to love! <3 Sure I read em'all… did you include e-mail reads?

    1. I don’t think those were included but that would have put equal counts into both the hates and loves and counting them out. I’m going to redo the counts in another month or so when people have forgotten all about the series and only searches show up. I bet the hates will still outnumber the loves. :)
